These are the rules of using HamroStays — written in the same plain language we use everywhere else on the site.
Who we are
HamroStays is a marketplace for verified private stays in Nepal, operated by Digital Sphare Pvt. Ltd. — registered in Kathmandu under the Companies Act 2063. We're a small team based in Kathmandu, with field people in Pokhara and Bandipur.
These Terms govern your use of our website, our apps, and anything else offered under the HamroStays name. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't book.
What HamroStays is
We connect travelers with hosts — we don't own the properties. The host is your contractual counterparty for the stay itself; we facilitate the booking, hold the booking deposit, and stand behind the verification badge on every listing.
Every property on the platform has been visited by a HamroStays team member in person. We sign a partnership agreement with the host before listing them, and we re-verify each property annually.
Using the platform
You must be 18 or older to make a booking. You can use HamroStays without an account — we keep things light — but if you create one, you're responsible for keeping it secure.
Don't do anything illegal, abusive, or that would harm the platform or other users. We may cancel a booking, block an account, or remove a listing if we believe these Terms have been broken.
Booking and paying
When you book a stay, you enter a direct agreement with the host. The price you see is the price you pay — there is no platform markup, no service fee, no "cleaning fee" that appears at checkout.
We accept eSewa. Some hosts also accept cash on arrival; those listings show a clear marker. The room rate is held by HamroStays and released to the host 24 hours after your check-in (add-on services like BBQ or cooking are paid directly to the host on arrival — they never flow through our platform).
- Prices are shown in NPR by default; USD is shown for reference only.
- Currency conversion uses the daily Nepal Rastra Bank rate.
- Any applicable taxes (e.g., VAT) are included in the displayed price.
House rules and conduct
Every listing has its own house rules — quiet hours, smoking, pets, parties — set by the host. Read them before you book. By confirming, you agree to follow them.
Treat the property, the host, and the neighborhood with respect. Damage caused by you is your responsibility; HamroStays may recover reasonable costs from your payment method if a host raises a verified claim within 7 days of checkout.
Content you submit
Reviews, photos, and messages you submit remain yours, but you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display them on HamroStays. We do not sell your content. We may remove anything we believe is misleading, abusive, or unsafe — and we'll tell you why.
What we are (and aren't) responsible for
HamroStays is responsible for the verification badge, the booking platform, and the deposit hold. We are not responsible for the host's day-to-day operation of the property, force majeure events, or third-party services — transport, food, guides — that you arrange separately.
We carry public liability insurance on our verification visits but do not provide insurance covering individual stays. We recommend travel insurance.
Disputes and governing law
If something goes wrong, tell us first — most disputes are resolved within 48 hours by our trust team. If we cannot reach an agreement, these Terms are governed by the laws of Nepal and disputes are subject to the courts of Kathmandu.
Changes and contact
We may update these Terms occasionally. We'll post the new version here with a fresh "last updated" date and, for material changes, email anyone with a confirmed upcoming booking. Continued use after a change means you accept the new Terms.
