We collect the minimum we need to help you book a stay and reach you if something changes — and we don't sell any of it to anyone.
What we collect
When you book a stay, we ask for your name, phone number, optional email, the dates of your stay, and the number of guests. eSewa handles the payment on its own hosted page — we never see or store your eSewa credentials, card details, or bank information. We only receive the transaction ID and amount.
When you browse without booking, we record anonymous analytics — pages visited, the device type, the country your IP geolocates to. That's it. No fingerprinting, no third-party advertising pixels.
Why we use it
- To process your booking and tell the host you're coming.
- To send you booking updates by SMS or email.
- To resolve disputes and reply to support requests.
- To improve the site — anonymized aggregate usage only.
- To comply with Nepali tax and tourism reporting rules.
Your rights over your data
You can ask us at any time to: see what data we hold on you, correct it, export it, or delete it. Email hello@hamrostays.com from the address tied to your booking and we'll respond within 14 days.
If you have a confirmed upcoming booking, we'll keep the minimum data needed to honor that booking until 30 days after check-out, regardless of a deletion request.
How long we keep it
- Active bookings: until 30 days after check-out.
- Past bookings: 5 years (Nepali tax law).
- Reviews you wrote: until you delete your account.
- Analytics: 25 months, anonymized.
